MIAN

Francesco MIAN

He was born in Riva Ligure, Italy in 1942. Inspired by Braque, Depero and Soldati he starts painting at a very young age. He has his first group exhibit in 1959 in Sanremo, Italy. In 1960 he moves to Milan to study architecture.

Influenced by Picasso, Max Ernest and the emerging of the Pop Art he carries on his pictorial research towards visions of reality and dream with a strong symbolic component that distinguishes him today. After a brief collaboration with Antoni Tàpies, in 1969 he takes part to another group show in Sanremo, Italy.

His representation consists of anthropomorphic creatures and common objects that participate to ordinary routine activities in imaginary and dreamlike spaces. In his body of works, Narrazioni Rituali, Francesco Mian takes the viewer into a magical and meta-physical world to reflect and contemplate life, reinterpret and deconstruct its values and find the tools to live in the constant changing reality.
